Frequently Asked Questions...

I've been tattooing long enough to know that the questions people ask before they book matter just as much as the tattoo itself. This page answers the real questions — the ones people type into Google at midnight while they're thinking about finally booking.

My name is Edgar. I run ProsperousInk.co, a private, fully permitted tattoo studio inside Edgy Suites in Las Vegas, Nevada. Everything below comes from real conversations I've had with real clients.

BOOKING & APPOINTMENTS

Q: How do I book a tattoo in Las Vegas at ProsperousInk.co?

Three ways: book online at ProsperousInkco.com, text 702-720-6123, or DM on Instagram @prosperousink.co. All new clients start with a free consultation — either in-person or via Zoom. There's no pressure and no commitment. We just need to talk about your vision before anything gets scheduled.

Q: Do I need a consultation before getting tattooed?

Yes — and it's the most valuable part of the whole process. Before any needle touches skin, I walk through placement, sizing, meaning, flow, and direction with every client. This is where great tattoos are actually built. The consultation is free and has zero obligation. In-person or Zoom — your choice.

Q: How far in advance do I need to book?

For smaller pieces, 2–3 weeks is usually enough. For large-scale commissions, back pieces, sleeves, or scar cover-ups, I recommend starting the conversation 4–8 weeks out. Complex work requires design time before the session date.

Q: Do you take walk-ins?

No. ProsperousInk.co is a private, appointment-only studio. This is intentional — it means when you're here, every minute of my focus is on your tattoo. No distractions, no walk-in interruptions. Text or book online to get on the calendar.

Q: Do you offer virtual consultations for people visiting Las Vegas?

Absolutely. If you're visiting Las Vegas and want to get tattooed, we can do the full design consultation over Zoom before you arrive. That way, your time in Vegas is spent in the chair, not planning. Text 702-720-6123 to set this up.

Pricing

Q: How much does a tattoo cost at ProsperousInk.co?

Pricing depends on the piece — size, complexity, placement, and session time all factor in. I provide a clear, transparent quote during your free consultation so you know the full investment before you commit to anything. There are no surprises.

Q: How much does a tattoo cost in Las Vegas generally?

Las Vegas tattoo pricing ranges widely — from $50 flash pieces at high-volume shops to $2,000+ for large custom commissions at private studios. At ProsperousInk.co, pricing reflects the custom design work, one-on-one private experience, and the time required to do the piece correctly. If you've found something cheaper, ask yourself what you're actually comparing.

Q: Is a deposit required to book?

Yes. A deposit is required to hold your appointment. It goes toward the total cost of your tattoo. The deposit is non-refundable without at least 48 hours' notice, as that time was reserved exclusively for you and your design.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, Zelle, and major credit/debit cards. Please confirm at time of booking.

Expertise Questions

Q: How does skin tone affect black and gray tattoos?

Skin tone affects how ink appears both immediately and over time. On lighter skin, black and gray gradients show high contrast. On medium and darker skin tones, the shadows read differently — certain gray values can disappear or muddy if not adjusted. I account for this during the design consultation by discussing how specific tones will translate on your skin specifically, and I adjust the gradient values in the design accordingly. This is one reason a consultation isn't optional for complex realism work.

Q: What techniques do you use for black and gray realism?

Black and gray realism uses several specific techniques to build depth: graywash (gradations of diluted black to create soft gray tones), opaque gray (blending black and white ink for a creamy mid-tone), linework for defining edges and structure, stippling for texture, and whipshading for smooth gradient transitions. The combination of these techniques — and knowing when to use each — is what creates the dimensional, photorealistic quality that makes realism work stand out.

Q: How long does a tattoo take to heal completely?

Surface healing takes 2–4 weeks. You'll see peeling, flaking, and some dullness during this phase — this is completely normal. Deep dermal healing takes 3–6 months. The true final appearance of your tattoo — the real depth of the blacks, the crispness of the detail — isn't fully visible until the deep layers have settled. This is why I tell clients to hold off on judging the result for at least 3 months.

Studio

Q: Where is ProsperousInk.co located?

Inside Edgy Suites at 2700 E. Sunset Rd., Suite C-27 #4, Las Vegas, NV 89120 — minutes from the Las Vegas International Airport. Free parking is available on-site.

Q: Is the studio licensed and permitted?

Yes. ProsperousInk.co operates as a fully licensed and permitted tattoo studio in compliance with Clark County Department of Environmental Health standards. All equipment is sterile and single-use where required. I'm happy to answer questions about studio safety protocols during your consultation.

Q: What makes ProsperousInk.co different from other tattoo shops in Las Vegas?

Three things: it's private, it's appointment-only, and every piece is custom-designed from scratch. Las Vegas has a lot of tattoo shops — most are built around volume. I built this studio around the opposite. One client at a time. One design at a time. Your experience gets my full attention, start to finish.

Aftercare

Q: What are the aftercare instructions for a new tattoo?

Week 1: Keep it clean with fragrance-free soap. Pat dry — never rub. Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion 2–3 times daily. Weeks 2–4: Peeling and dullness are normal. Do not pick or scratch. Ongoing: Use SPF 50+ sunscreen on healed tattoos whenever exposed to sun. UV exposure is the #1 cause of tattoo fading over time. I provide personalized aftercare instructions after every session.

Q: What should I do before my tattoo appointment to prepare?

Eat a full meal 1–2 hours before your session. Stay well hydrated the day before and day of. Get a good night of sleep. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior. Wear clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. Avoid sunburning the tattoo area in the days before your appointment. Proper preparation directly affects how well you tolerate longer sessions and how your skin takes the ink.

Permanent Makeup

Q: What is the difference between Powder Brows and microblading?

Microblading creates individual hair-stroke marks using a manual blade — best for dry skin clients who want a natural hair-stroke look. Powder Brows use a machine shading technique that creates a soft, filled-in effect — better for oily or combination skin, larger pores, and clients who want a more defined brow. Powder Brows also tend to age more gracefully because the edges stay softer over time. During your consultation, I assess your skin type and recommend what will hold up best for you specifically.

Q: Is permanent makeup a tattoo? Is it safe?

Yes — permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing. Pigment is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin. At ProsperousInk.co, all PMU procedures follow Clark County Department of Environmental Health standards. Single-use needles, sterile equipment, and proper sanitation practices are non-negotiable. Topical numbing is applied before all procedures for your comfort.
